i was thinking about this as well.
Once eth 2.0 comes out, and people can stake eth, tezos and eth will be direct competitors.
This doesn't mean either will become obsolete.
I think of it like Nvidia and Amd. Both make graphics cards. They're competitors, but both are successful companies. And they push each other to become better. Competition is a good thing.

This will be the same for tezos and eth. Some will see tezos and see that they can accumulate far more and stake more and thus gain more and will invest in that. Others will see eth and see how much it's network is being used and will stake on that.

They won't cancel each other out. They will just be competitors that push each other to become better.
Both coins have long term viability.
I do hold both coins.
However i see more short term gains for tezos since it is already using proof of stake consensus and has more coins staked than any other cryptocurrency currently. It is wayyyy ahead of eth, but it is 1/10th the marketcap. So short term i see more potention in tezos.

TL:DR tezos and eth will both make it.

ETH 2.0 is supposed to come out within the next 2 years. It's goal is to implement Proof of Stake Consensus.

Well not only is Tezos already using Proof of Stake consensus, Tezos has more coins being staked than ANY OTHER BLOCKCHAIN!
