I'm seriously considering lying on my resume about having a degree. I only have a high school diploma. I'm thinking about putting a bachelors in general studies.

With a bachelors in general studies I won't be educated in a specific field so potential jobs know they have to train me, rather than expecting me to already having the skills and necessary knowledge. As it stands right now I have good enough work experience that I can land jobs $2-$4 above minimum wage, so I want this to put me over the hump into living wage territory.

What could honestly go wrong?

America's too far gone for an idea like that to work. millions are already working for minimum or just slightly above it. you think multibillion dollar corporations won't try to get the lowest wage possible.

>hi, we're amazon. we noticed your town doesn't have a lot of jobs. come work for us for $5 an hour. it's better than nothing senpai

For sure it would improve some peoples lives but taking away a minimum wage at this point would open the flood gates for thousands of corporations to take advantage of their already poor workforce. American desperation is at an all time high. Someone will always work for below minimum, always. And if a corporation gives you know choice, what else is there?

If nearly 60% of the country lives paycheck to paycheck clearly the population doesn't have a budgeting problem. how could 150+ million people be financially illiterate?

It seems to me the majority of americans are destined to struggle financially for most of their lives. what's the point in working if you can't afford a roof over your head?
