I don't think I would stack it in the sense of accumulating many of them as a way to hold gold metal. That would probably not be cost effective. However, if you can afford it, you should definitely have a few different ones for historical and nostalgic reasons. Then stack boring stuff like Maples.

It depends on your interest. If you are strictly mercenary, buy what you can get at the best price. But you might find, as I do, that in addition to pure bullion mass, there are historic, artistic, political, philosophical, even sentimental reasons for buying particular coins. Have fun!

You are thinking about this backwards. The worse the BRICS are doing, the MORE likely they turn to gold. When the government farms in the USSR failed and the people were starving (and not just the ones Stalin wanted to starve) the government had to buy wheat from Canada. But the ruble was a joke. They had to use GOLD!

Gold is the one thing all the BRICS have that everyone values. And they don't have to have much of a functioning economy to use it. They just push it off a truck. The more they struggle, the more likely they turn to it. And they are not the only ones expecting gold to come into play. Central Bank gold purchases around the globe are hitting record levels. That's not so they can make jewelry.

Why don't YOU take a look at the inflation adjusted price of gold starting in 1986 when the first American gold eagles were actually released until 1991 when apartheid was abolished? The price actually went UP for several years and then settled back to almost the exact price it held at the time of first release. The quantity of gold sold in the government bullion programs has never been enough to influence spot price.

PMs are the MOST difficult asset to confiscate. Housing, vehicles, bank accounts, brokerage accounts, wages, and appliances are all much easier to seize than PMs. PMs are portable, durable, can't be detected by dogs, and can change shape and size to fit almost anywhere. The only thing that is more difficult to confiscate than PMs is a gun and only because a gun can be used to kill the government agent trying to take it.

The only way PMs can be confiscated is if the public believes their government is telling the truth about some dire need. And those days are over in America.
