Two ways to go for social media; either rescind their liability protection for things posted on their site, making them responsible to strictly moderate, or allow them to keep liability protection but mandate they abide by the first amendment in their moderation, such that it stays up unless the content breaks a law, is in territory of libel/slander/defamation, breaks civil contracts, etc etc etc etc.

That appears to be the thrust of government eyeballing the social medias for tweaking in some kinda way.
