I've just been mentally shaken the hardest I've been in months.

Up until now I've been trading by the results of my homebrew data harvesting / statistical modeling program, which is the most inefficient piece of shit in the world, but it's been doing passably. Ish. And up until now I was so proud that I came up with it on my own.

Come to find out these fuckers at Cornell developed this: http://www.nutonian.com/products/eureqa/
It hones in on equations that model data, and only keeps the best and ranks them by their simplicity and error.

Between that, and then discovering the community at Kaggle, I'm fucking horrified to find out these gods exist and that I was trying to butt heads with them with my shit-retarded PHP machine learning mess.

tldr; is statistical / technical analysis kill? Should I be as scared as I am?
