Once an honest equilibrium has been established for nodes, falsifying data is just as stupid and wasteful for an individual node operator as a single miner attempting to doublespend a winning block on the btc network. All the sunk cost (staked LINK, electricity spent on btc hashing previous unrewarded blocks) will be lost as well as any LINK or BTC rewards. It is fruitless. If the LINK nodes collude, as in with a 51% btc attack, the nodes either lose their LINK, or no one wants their data anymore, defeating the purpose of operating a node, similar to how if a 51% attack ever happened on btc the perpetrator would be the lucky owner of a worthless network and tons of bricked ASICs.
