it would be very cool if they did change the protocol now that memo.cash is open-source but i get that they dont want to need to "ask permission" if they wanted to change something

just do yourself a favor and dont believe anything you read on /r/bitcoin/. nobody that hangs there without being randomly banned will come to an happy end.
