Yeah that's a bizarre turn of events lately. I assume because people are constantly harassing them on the social medias to take some kind of side on it. Take THEIR side, mind you. Or be boycotted or something. Companies do worry about boycotts as those can slide in to large numbers if the original people pushing for it push hard enough.

It would be nice to see a company put out a quote along the lines of 'no, we will not make a statement about (political issue). We sell burgers. You want burgers you come to our restaurant and buy burgers'.

I had a working netscape.net email deep in to the 00's. It changed hands a couple times and was being hosted by AOL before it went kaput. They changed how they set up the login process and, because there was no secondary email in my account to retrieve lost password, it locked me out. I knew the original password but it stopped working when they changed whatever it was that they changed.
