hence why I shill index options and future options. The benefits here are absolutely broken and you become more immune to random events like meme stocks, shills, etc since it's harder for an index to suddenly implode under normal circumstances.

>It does double the commission. It also means you're eating the bid/ask spread multiple times.
Largely depends on the broker, the worst commissions here would be future-options. So doing a credit spread on /ES would be murder on small accounts but the SPAN margin and overall credit more or less pay for that.
To be honest here too with the added benefits to the sellers side options wise it's best to NOT trade that much when possible or when you do trade a lot go ham on 0DTE SPX trades like Tom Sosnoff.
>If you want to speculate on macro using the major indexes, then that's another story
Somewhat the point, personally besides a very select group of ticker I don't want to own any actual stocks. Plus the tax benefits from index options are way too busted to switch full time on normal options.
>IV is much lower on the indexes.
DEPENDS, lower on SPX yes. On RUT or NDX god no it's much higher. NDX in particular is more capital-intensive but offers the highest credits because of the IV bit.
>spreads and commissions
More of a broker issue to be honest. I use IBKR and for the most part that's never been a problem. Tastyworks is somewhat meh on this but it's ignorable in practice with them.
>If you're going long then its because you have intent to close them at a profit before expiration
You can do the same with options selling. Personally I close everything out once it hits 50% of profit. Then again I do time when I sell taking advantage of RUT's channel-bound nature or stuff happening to SPX.

I honestly don't give a shit if they see my fapping sessions. Nothing interesting other than that happens in my flat.
