So is it even remotely viable to find funding for a startup by describing a general direction for the company, claiming to have multiple projects in the works, and only later describing the project(s) in detail directly to interested potential investors?

Or does every single startup HAVE to have a flagship project that serves as its face, and describe that project in detail, specifying exactly what it is and what it does?
