I'm talking about two different concepts. EWMAs are efficient to compute because they can be computed recursively as current_average = (prev_average * (1.0 - update_weight)) + (current_value) * update_weight. Your current method uses two loops and has time complexity O(m*n), where n is the length of the price history and m is the length of the average window, but an equivalent EWMA would only use one loop and have time complexity O(n).

Alternatively, if you want to use history weightings other than exponential, you can also approach this problem using signal convolution, which can reduce the time complexity down to O(n*log(n)) by using fourier transforms and the convolution theorem, or even O(n*log(m)) (remember m is usually much smaller than n) by using some overlap-add trickery. Though, unless you're comfortable with fourier transforms, this is best done with a library.
