Why do people keep saying this? Locking coins is practically like longing, and like when lots of people going long creates a long squeeze, locking a lot makes the coin more manipulatable and wales can keep it at a lower price, so when people unlock they will have to sell at a loss to big players, after that the price might rise.
Nobody is going to pump the price for you to sell higher, locking your coins simply gives you the right to sell lower. That is true unless the token has some real value, at this point however almost no coin have real value. Most people that lock their coins will not end up at a profit
