funny story actually, the token holders actually voted in majority to change the name from ICP back to Dfinity but Dom decided to ignore the DAO and stick with ICP. he thought ICP sounded cool and so did his yes-men.

ICP is essentially a Swiss Corporation with a DAO that the corporation may or may not listen to. They also have a webhosting services that you can pay for using ICP tokens, but it's heavily regulated so Dfinity can ban you for copyright infringment or hate speech. Their main marketing gimmick is to trick retards into thinking these websites are smart contracts hosted on the blockchain. It works surprisingly well since no one bothers to call out their bullshit scam. the rest of crypto just tries to ignore them rather than confront their army of delusional baggies.
