It's selling US Treasuries (govt. debt) which causes a yield spike since they're not buying the debt anymore at low interest, and Mortgage-Backed Securities which is debt based off of people paying for their homes. Investors buy MBS as a revenue stream, and when you dumb bonds at discount, this causes yield spikes yet again. Keep in mind interest rates are being raised at the same time. Since everything is cooked up on debt, nobody can afford that debt after we've become accustomed to zero percent interest since 2009. When they 'dump these assets', they're simply not refinancing them so they have to be auctioned off. These auctions have recently yielded higher and higher interest. They accumulated them buy buying USTs from the govt. and MBSs from banks that went bust in 08
