I wonder how AMD is going turn out. Tradionally, they get overhyped before earnings and crash pretty hard afterwards.

But Ryzen 3000 is really killing it with its Q3 release and TSMC posted record numbers (to which AMD might have attributed to quite a bit).

The big unknowns are their GPU sells (according to Powercolor, the 5700 series raised earnings/profit significantly - +100%, IIRC, but then again, it's Powercolor, so that doesn't mean shit) and their ROME server chip sales.

Thoughts?

Ryzen 3000 is nice and all, but Rome was AMD's actual big dick move and goddamn, Intel is getting raped with no lube.

I wonder how today's earnings call is going to affect AMD's stock. I'm pretty conflicted about it. One the one hand, Ryzen 3000 is selling pretty great (e.g. the 3700X has already sold 60% in three weeks of what the 9900K has sold in 9.5 monts, or 56% of what the 9700K did in the same time, according to Mindfactory.de numbers), the 5700 GPUs series is actually somewhat competitive with Nvidia this time instead of being a complete abortion and outlook for Q3 should be great with Ryzen 3000 (and ROME coming up in August, the main breadwinner). On the other hand, the 3900X had a paper launch and is constantly sold out, Ryzen has various motherboard/BIOS problems,the earnings call was delayed by almost one week and we're still pretty close to the 13-year high.

Should I HODL or short AMD?
