I dropped out of school very young with mostly failed gcses, lied about them and got into college for a levels. Finished with 4A* but didn't apply to Oxbridge or the top London universities partially cause expecting to be auto rejected due to GCSEs, partially cause zero confidence from parents calling me retarded and unsuitable for education my whole life. I've just finished my 1st year at a AAB entry requirement university, and to be honest I found it painfully easy. I feel so much regret when someone asks which university I go to it's unreal, and am far more confident now I've cut contact with parents.

If I drop out and apply to Oxford would I have a shot despite my awful GCSEs? I am studying physics and a levels are in maths, f maths, physics, computer science.

I've been a massive retard and have no internship lined up this summer. I really, really fucking need one to get onto a certain PhD program next year.

Outside of exceptional academics and some minor volunteering, the only thing I have going for me is being with 500k GBP at 21 from being a bitcoin retard so not impressive at all.

Would it be based or cringe to put under experience on apps something along the lines of "through a variety of smart investments I reached a net worth of 500k before my 21st birthday without parental assistance"?

I'm 21 and looking to apply to PhDs next year. The ones I'm looking at are extremely competitive unless you apply early, but I won't have a reference unless I wait a few months past the deadline and even then it's not a very complete ref, I cannot use my third year supervisor as he was unbelievably difficult to deal with and although I did well in the project I just don't trust him.

Essentially I'm going to apply but expect to be rejected, and then going to apply again the next year once I have a better reference. This means I'd be finishing my PhD at 27 which is honestly pretty sickening (I'm in UK, average length is 3.5 years). How bad is it to take a year out or does it really not matter?

I currently can't help but think as life as a massive race/competition and I'm letting myself get behind. Note I have 10 BTC so could very well be millionaire if BTC moons just once more.

That said, "Rise of Industry" is a sweet game that the /biz/raeli crowd would totally appreciate. I played a lot of Sim City 2000 and Sim Tower growing up and have been hopelessly addicted to Banished for the last few years. It's nice to have something new and solid in the genre.
