>what the vulnerabilities or trade-offs are.
the cons are that possible government regulation creates uncertainty, that there could be exploits, or that community dies out/fades away. Like most other cryptocurrencies really.
>Additionally, from my understanding, there are several types of 'keys' (public/private/spent/etc.) bound to your address but I've never used Monero so I'm not sure how easy it is to juggle all these keys. Does a typical Monero wallet abstract out the multitude of key values and make it easy for a user to send/receive Monero?
The wallet interfaces are pretty straightforward. The cryptonote base layer is a little different than Bitcoins, but all you need to know is your public address is what you give out to other people to receive monero, and your private key is your 25 word seed that you use to create your wallet and spend your Monero.
>Why hasn't Monero taken off as much as other coins?
Monero has steadily grown in userbase in adoption.

Ethereum is a transparent base layer. An adversary simply needs to sit on the outside and watch funds going in and funds going back out. And regardless, most of these "privacy options" have miniscule anon sets with optional privacy settings and no proven track record. You need a fungible, large anon set with baked in privacy. Normies will never ever use your random erc token. As it is, Monero adoption has taken years to take on the dark net, and we are just now only starting to win the battle. Pic related.
Monero is going to take over the dark net. The smart money recognizes this use case. Ethereum has certain speculative value that I agree with but when it comes to privacy Monero is king.

Nah it's mostly that Monero is off their radar. Dark net usage is increasing which is great but we just need to wait as the size of the userbase grows. There are so many dark net users still sending bitcoin from Coinbase to their marketplace of choice, it's really crazy.

It certainly possible. Right now the focus is on long term fundamental growth. Pic related is the daily transaction count. If we can keep the transactions growing over the next two years and build a base of tech savvy users that understand the tenets of fungible cash, we could have some serious rocket fuel. Price analysis is really tricky however and I look at Monero from the perspective of 10-20 years from now, because I think by then scaling should be much smoother and the demand for privacy will be higher at that point.

yeah. if you are operating in high value or if you are a target you should host your own node. But if you are at that level, you are definitely making sure you are obfuscating your IP. It is annoying that Monero is still so complicated to normies and especially to boomers (who of course, have money to spend). The next generation of old people will at least be somewhat computer literate.
>>19132441
Sure, you can just DCA and you'll be mostly fine. Monero's BTC ratio is insanely undervalued. Pic related shows the actual growth in the usage of Monero during the bear market.

Monero is the only private crypto. It has shown long term fundamental growth (see pic related) despite the bear market and it is gaining market share on the dark net. It is the crypto most like digital cash because it is fungible, meaning 1 monero will always equal 1 monero (other cryptos have issues with coin taint due to their transparent ledgers).
possible future use cases of monero include a "swiss bank on steroids", avoiding taxation, avoiding surveillance, avoiding oppression
in short, Monero is what normies think Bitcoin is.
