Ok, I thought these were cool and all but I'm beginning to wonder if they're really necessary if you have good OpSec (operational security).

Why do I need a privacy coin with options like coinjoin, cash shuffle, combined with keeping my "private" transactions and associated addresses separate from my real identity (and publicly known addresses, if applicable)?

If they were truly necessary, then Dark Net Markets wouldn't accept Bitcoin/Bitcoin Cash, but they do. Are privacy coins nothing more than an insurance policy for those with bad opsec?

So...is this next or what?

On Sept 26, Monero is planned to hardfork. The price right now is growing as the news spreads. No more needs to be said.
