Good luck anon, but why don't you just buy and melt old scrap silverware? It'll be considerably cheaper that way.

>My kid and I spent today sorting coppers, got 416g of pure copper.
Based, YGMI. I post those coppers a lot, my favorite is probably the 56g 1797 "cartwheel" 2 pence, they are awesome chonkers. 1oz cartwheel pennies are cheaper and more common but not as remarkable fondlers.

>Here’s the Katanga cross I found; the lady bought it in Zambia and I don’t think it’s a full blown “used to buy slaves” piece but freaky shit was happening in early 20th century Africa so I’m sure it’s still got some spicy curses
Fuck yeah man that looks legit to me, on the smaller side (still by far the biggest true old "coin" anyone you know will have ever seen) and poured in a more uniform mold so I'd assume it's a younger example but you got yourself a great deal, the holes ain't bad and can be plugged with some scrap copper I'm sure you have floating around. I've read that katangas were used in the backwater hinterlands as money into the 1950s but believe they stopped making them sometime earlier. Excellent job finding a worthy cheapie and congrats bro!
