Programmers used to be valued PROFESSIONALLY because they weren't just replaceable cogs, you had to be a real nerd, and you had to have a good grasp on how the systems actually worked rather than just using frameworks and libraries to abstract everything like it's done today.
In the 90's, they started dumbing down the industry, by pushing stuff like Java and Python. Now it's at the point where very few people actually understand the systems fully. Even the "infosec" crowd are mainly using toolkits, and very few of them actually write their own tools. And many of the others are just "academics" who do research, but they're not really CREATING anything original, and besides their whole existence and ability to make money revolves around the fact that current systems are overcomplicated garbage full of bugs, some of which will inevitably be exploitable.
Terry Davis had it right: idiots are impressed by complexity, it takes a genius to keep it simple. Unfortunately now with the ludicrous state of hardware and software, even a genius will probably have a hard time.

Prices seem ok to me, at least for the stuff I was going to order. I got confused at the checkout though. I was going to use their "store" option to combine shipping with later orders, but it wants to charge me 32 euros for that. Now I'm wondering if when I got add a couple more coins it's going to charge me again 32 euros every time. That would only make it worthwhile for huge orders, like combining multiple monster boxes. But that wasn't my intention, so I cancelled. I'm gonna have to plan this all out differently or something.
