we are still on the gravy train of QE and low interest rates so investors don't seek safety, they seek extreme risk for extreme reward
interest rates are like gravity - high interest rates puts liquidity in banks to collect safe returns, low interest rates forces liquidity to seek returns in riskier and riskier places

once the crisis actually comes interest rates will spike and QE will go into overdrive in an attempt to stop the rise, however the QE will just make the currency more worthless, causing investors to demand higher interest rates, resulting in more QE and that is when liquidity will run down Exters pyramid into gold until governments restructure their currencies
