At the moment it's only killing the elderly and those with preexisting conditions because they have enough ventilators and hospital beds to treat the severe respiratory symptoms in the people who get it; it's only the old who that isn't enough for, so they're the only ones you see dying. If the number of cases spiked enough that there weren't enough ventilators, then it wouldn't just be the old dying. People are taking the fact that the current solution is working (only the extremely frail and previously infirm die) and trying to use it as proof we don't need that solution.
