Yeah, and how was that inflation bug fixed? By rolling back the chain and invalidating dozens of legitimate transactions in the process. Not such a big deal in 2010 but today? Fucking catastrophic, it would destroy the immutability principle so you'd never be able to trust Bitcoin again.
