Even though inflation is happening, the capital still has to transfer from account a to point b in order to pump the price. Inflation doesn't cause an asset to 'magically' increase.

Exactly. This is what makes the current price action even more amazing, the flow of capital into precious metals is such a strong current the derivatives manipulation can't hold the price down.
