In the past year, I've turned a $5k graduation gift into ~$300k. My Dad wants to give me $250k of his own money to invest, one because he wants the gains, but two because he wants to encourage me to pursue something I show real interest in (as opposed to waging which he can see is absolutely eating my soul). He's willing to pay me 2/20 and I think he's secretly hoping I'll take it seriously enough to one day do it full-time and bring in some of his boomer friends.

So, my question bros, is how do I go about getting this money and investing it without major tax implications? I assume if he just wired me the money that the state would want to tax it like a gift or something.
