I used to have pic related, you pour whole coffee beans in there and it grinds them and makes fresh coffee.

Gotta say though, the coffee very often tasted bland or 'off', with often a shitty aftertaste that lasted hours, even when making coffee the "right" way (i.e. making an espresso and then adding hot water, instead of letting the hot water run through the grind for a full cup).
It also gets filthy in there.

I now have a Nescafe "Oblo" machine that uses cups pretty much like Keurig cups, and I have to say it's an improvement in every way (except maybe price).
Much easier and quicker, and the coffee tastes better and has a wonderful aftertaste for hours.

I'm just going to assume that the Philips machine I had (see pic) was just shitty.
