Trump was actually playing defense through his aggressiveness. The debate doesn't matter, what matters are 15 second sound bites and how a voter's conceptualization of the candidates change. While Trump didn't do anything that would sway voters to him or change how people view him, he made it impossible to create soundbites and for Biden to show people that he's America's last working politician that reminds people of the times of JFK.

Voters don't vote based on debate performance, they vote based on the concepts of the candidates and the enthusiasm they have for that concept. Conceptualizations are identical to 8 hours ago and enthusiasm is definitely lower for Biden among swing votes than it was 8 hours ago
