You remind me of me when I dropped out of college. I had a nice comfy research position that would track me directly into a PhD program in a STEM subject at a top uni here in California. Wallowed in my fucking misery for a good 2 years before I got sick and tired of being sick and tired. Stop overthinking life and wealth in general. Stick to something easy as shit. Learn to day trade/swing trade crypto or stocks. Wage to fund your account. Tutor someone locally in math or science. I know tutors making $100/hr to tutor kids in these subjects. I know a math PhD who makes $300/hr tutoring high school rich kids in AP Calc, AP Physics, and AP Stats.

You went to an top tier university and earned a PhD and now you are fucked in the head because it didn't pan out like you wanted it to. Cut your losses. Move on. That part of your life is over. Turn that love you thought would become a career into a hobby/passion project you work on the side if it's impossible for you to do away with. Get the fuck over it. First off, remember that you are the man and that what you say goes. Nothing else matters. You are the man and what you say goes. You build societies, lead them, you take charge, and you provide. Focus on your craft(s)/work and treat dating as a supplement to life. Ironically, the more you ignore women and focus on your work, the more you attract them. Start within your immediate social circle and move outward. Avoid degenerate settings like bars, clubs, or other places where lower forms of humanity congregate. Chat up random wholesome younger women (you will learn how to spot them over time) at non-degenerate settings like parks, coffee shops, book stores, farmers markets, etc. Remember that women generally have low to zero self agency and can be easily led and molded. For this very reason, don't be afraid to punch a weight-class up or swing in a league above you. DON'T be desperate and GET USED TO rejection (rejection will happen a lot but it will also sharpen and re-calibrate you). Like building your body at the gym, it's all about repetitions. The more you do it, the more visible your results become.

This is general advice, but I trust that you are smart enough to use it as a scaffold that you can tailor to your own life. Most people I share this with are just too afraid to execute or want to be spoon-fed everything and have their hands held like mommy did when growing up. It isn't rocket science. One foot in front of the other.

Learn to code (unironically), meet with collaborators, use your superior physics knowledge to solve problems and your coding abilities as the means to that end, pitch your ideas to potential investors (you can do this online nowadays, you're only some Googling and research removed) until you get funded and moon the business. All smart STEM degree holders should realize their worth and go their own way to change the world through entrepreneurship. There's an old saying in sales: "Pound the phone until they buy or say bye". Get to it. Be aggressive. You come off as a fucking geek stuck in a terrible loop. Fix yourself.
