Silver proof sets are pretty rad bro, I have a silver set for every year from 1997-2021. I even have the deluxe versions for 1998 and 2016, and the reverse proof version of 2018

No way, seriously? That sounds awesome, I want one now. What year is that from, I really want a Canadian silver proof set but not really sure what to look for. As a Southeastern Burger I really don't ever come across Canadian coinage besides the .999 bullion at coin shops.

Here's something interesting I noticed on the US mint website: Despite silver being cheaper, the US mint RAISED the price of their silver proof sets, including older sets such as the 2021 set. https://catalog.usmint.gov/silver-proof-set-2021-21RH.html?cgid=proof-sets#start=1 this definitely used to be $105, I bought it for that much just last december and that's the price the red book says it was issued at. But other products, such as the Palladium eagle got cheaper to account for lower Palladium prices.https://catalog.usmint.gov/american-eagle-2022-one-ounce-palladium-reverse-proof-coin-22EK.html?cgid=palladium-coins#start=1
Could the US mint be anticipating silver prices to rise, and they made the sets more expensive to account for this?

God I wish. The 6.250 gram silver version is cool but the burnishing on Nu-S-A commemorative coinage is so aggressive it's hard to make out details. A 5ozt bullion strike version of this would be beyond kino

Pay attention to the obverse of quarters. It's the first and only Washington quarter since 1998 to have the date on the front, along with a slightly higher relief Washington Sculpt. The State Quarters series lowered the relief to account for having to make a bunch of new die designs all the time, that's a very real cost of mintage.
But with over a year of circulation any you find in change are probably going to start looking grungy. Not impossible, just found a nice one earlier today.

I wish I had more to genuinely post right now, I've had to be strict with PM funds lately as I go on a vacation in just a little over a week from today. Most recent purchase was a 2020 silver proof set a couple of weeks ago. Smoky mountain knife works has some decent world paper money collections to tickle my numisfaggotry, but all of their silver is absurdly overpriced. No coin shops in Pigeon forge either, want to get something from there. Maybe a pawn shop will have a silver proof set I'm missing out on?

It's not available on the website anymore, which is why it's so expensive right now. Might have a shot at the 2021 set, it's going to be the only decent set until 2027 at minimum

This one. Really, it is a lovely set and I do like collecting these. I have every single silver state quarter now and am starting to work on every America the beautiful silver quarter. It's only regrettable for the price, it cost $110 total direct from the mint and doesn't even have a full troy ounce of silver. I still really like the look, especially the General George Washington reverse and final issue of the high relief John Flanagan Washington obverse sculpt. Just would like it a lot MORE if I only paid $45-$55 like I usually do for these things at the coin shop.

>It's minted with an ass you mean!
Lol, can't disagree. Plus they treated it like a drawing, not a narrow SCULPTURE, which is what a coin is. That's the first mistake of amateur minting, a coin is sculpture, not a pencil drawing. WAGMI has proper three dimensional depth and contours and is way better.
Tangent, I hate most coins with front facing portraits, the 2006 liberty nickel is an enormous downgrade from the 1938-2004 Felix Schlag profile Jefforson bust sculpt. It looks ghastly, what were they thinking? I guess the lowered relief saved on minting cost since dies get more life. They also lowered the relief on the state quarter and ATB quarter series obverse, and the new shitty Women's series Washington obverse also has a low relief. GAY. I love Augustine St. Gauden's comically high reliefs on the original Gold Eagles and Peace dollars before they got nerfed, THOSE were coins damnit. He was a sculptor, not a painter. Even artistically our money is debased. Even paper "money" looks like shit now, the old educational dollars series were so pretty.
We're in the soulless era of money, media, and architecture. If we'll even be remembered at all in the future it'll be prefaced with a big "What the hell happened"?
