That is an example showing the benefit of composite over RGB which is a meme because RGB is much better than composite outside of that extremely cherry-picked example. It has nothing to do with using a CRT. Sonic is one of the few games that uses dithering for transparency at all and even then 99% of the time Sonic looks better under RGB than composite due to better colours and lack of shimmering.

Because of the transparencies? No Snes game uses dithering transparency, it was a work around for the mega drive not being able do true transparencies which the Snes can do.
