Your mistake is thinking of the DTCC as an organization separate from all the prime brokers and MMs and investment banks and hedge funds, but it's not. Those are the DTC's member institutions. The people and organizations inside the DTCC are trying to preserve themselves, and the only way they can do that is to leave the DTCC holding the bag. It's actually a pretty smart move - a blockchain AMM/DEX replacement for the current stock market would make the DTCC utterly superfluous ANYWAYS, but people are still gonna need banks unless the dollar is 100% replaced by crypto in the next week and a half (hint: no). They pass the buck to the DTCC on both blame and FTD obligations to preserve their futures once this all comes crashing down.

Now that I look back, it was always going to be video gamers. Vidya is the only form of recreation where your enemy is the rules of the system itself.
