set more reasonable goals, guys. there isn't *one* particular number to be free. focus first one getting a reasonable place to live. of course it's fun to say "im not gonna settle for anthing less than 100 acres with a modern yet wood-interior cabin in remote area with a river and mountains in the background", but you'll sleep better with a more tangible goal.

my mortgage is about half my monthly expenses, so paying that off would decrease my expenses by roughly that amount, though i suppose i'd still have like 700 bucks in annual taxes and id probably still have homeowners insurance costs. figure first on securing your own place before planning on completely fucking off from society.
