For anyone who wants the closest comparison to gen 0 mons, look up the "Founder" kitties in Cryptokitties. There are just under 100 of them, so roughly the same order of magnitude as these legendary mons. They initially got scooped up for 9-10 ETH each when the game first launched and more recently have been worth around 100. You'll want to divide that by 8-10 or so for the most popular mons because the 400+ that exist now in addition to all the eggs that the late adopters get will probably bring it a bit short of 1k in total.

Most of my CryptoKitty profits were by buying a high-gen child of a founder and breeding it nonstop, selling the then-rare "jaguar" gene which was only available in founders for a huge premium. The jaguar market has since become ultra saturated in part due to my participation in it, so I don't bother anymore.

Of course CryptoKitties were much more in demand than our Etheremons are, so I wouldn't expect those returns right away necessarily, but the demand will steadily grow as the game gains functionality and more and more people NEED our mons to battle most effectively. Increasing demand and steady supply = you fucking made it.
