It tracks the underlying daily. So SPY goes down 1% then UPRO goes down 3% or so. Long term you have volatility drag vs. compound growth. Basically volatility is bad. "Leverage for the long run" and "the long term behavior of leverage ETFs" go into more detail if you plan on holding more than a week.
