can someone help me with currencies?

so today on the radio i heard the 'pound is strong' against the euro as it buys 1.10 euro or whatever. What is strong? It buys more? So, 1pound = 1.50 euro would be even better?

How is that strong though, isn't is weak? Cause a person from Europe, gets less pounds for his euro, so he's unlikely to trade since he'll lose out? Same with dollars. If 1.6 dollars gets 1 euro, isn't that bad? Why would people want to buy something that's worth less. It's not 'strong against the euro' is it, it's bad? For the pound to be strong, don't we want 1euro = £10?

When things look the darkest, always remember that we're all gonna make it in the end.
