I'm pretty retarded as far as tech and relatively new to crypto and /biz/ but I just read pic related and some of the stuff about it's potential for innovation in web 3.0, decentralized search engine and indexing of information blah blah blah - as I see it, as it stands now, data monetization and the control of information is largely in the hands of a few major tech/social media giants and corporations. Data and information is currently their MAJOR commodity; they practically mine and harvest it from us to sell and trade. If there is some way to get some of the monopolization of power away from them and into the hands of the little people (ie. the rest of us) so that we have some stake in the game of data/information monetization too, that seems like a pretty good thing.

Decentralized currency was the first big thing, maybe decentralization of data/information monetization could be the next big thing.

I have no idea if that's really the ultimate goal of the project or not and maybe I'm just being naïve. I still need to look into deeper. Hopefully they don't plan on working *with* the social media/tech giants who currently hold dominance over almost the entire market of information and are using their power in coordinated methods of censorship and control. If that's the case I'll find it difficult to support.

I bought some and just see it is an investment in a potentially interesting project. I'll probably just sit on it for a few years and if something comes of it, cool, if not, oh well.
