If it feels pretentious for you, that means it's probably at or around the level of education you're targeting (assume your managers either have or want to have read more than you.)

Also don't follow timelines or advice about how long you should be at a job. Leave if a better opportunity comes along, or if it feels like your manager dislikes you. Don't waste time running uphill.

Most importantly, don't be the only person who does what you do. And work for someone who knows exactly how hard what you do is, or is oblivious AND trusting.

I'm unironically demanding that I create a AAA game in the next 5 years as part of the package. I'm tired of wandering the same planes.

It seems to me that people are very tired of their lives and it's sufficient that this man is entertaining - regardless of the impact he ultimately has on those who spend more than six months around him.
