Even the majority of professionally actively managed funds dont even out perform VTI. Just look at Cathie Wood's fund lol

Personally I do a combination of the two, mainly because I find it interesting. I'm barely beating the market over all time btw, it's not worth it to micromanage especially if youre a high income earner
