Why should i buy gold over usd if im betting on a market recession or a crash? Obviously i plan on buying stocks once this crash finishes off.

In 2008 the dow jones fell 49% while in the same timespan gold fell 19.25%. The us dollar only experienced 3.5% inflation from 2007 to 2009. Thats much better than gold or pretty much any asset at the time.

I see a ton of you gold and silver /biz/nessmen out there but please convince me that the hype surrounding gold is absolutely warranted.

Also if bitcoin is like gold then it will also tank in response to a stock market collapse.
