I think the great American roadtrip is an experience that is invaluable and you should absolutely drive it, not fly it.

However it's going to be difficult to enjoy a roadtrip if you're driving a big truck that you can't really park anywhere. How much stuff do you have?

I moved to the west coast for work and I had my stuff shipped out ahead of me by a shipping company that basically drives loops around the country in a huge truck that carries maybe 4 or 5 different peoples' stuff at a time. I think it cost something like $6k, but that was inclusive of them packing and unpacking everything for me.

Because I was unencumbered, I was able to do an enjoyable road trip where I passed through the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Death Valley, etc., and could go out and gamble, drive to a restaurant, drive to a national park, etc. -- can't do that in a moving truck

I'm planning to buy $CAT (Caterpillar) and $TXN (Texas Instruments) tomorrow.

Investment thesis: these are buy-and-hold dividend stocks that are unlikely to go out of business and should continue to grow solidly as technology advances
