Thanks, it was a bit of a restorative process. When I first found it it was covered in dust, especially the velvet.

Carefully took the coin out, wiped the outer shell and creme-colored fabric down (special caution was given to the South African Mint monogram because it looked like it could possibly flake off), and very gingerly patted down the velvet with some masking tape which took a lot of the loose particles off.
I didn't keep the coin in the case after that just out of fear of it rubbing against the velvet unshielded.
Picrel is the before and after with the velvet, I think I fiddled with the velvet a bit more after the pic to make it look monochromatic.
