Sergey was the frontier of theorizing and designing smart contract AND oracle concepts like 4 years before anyone else knew what these things were.
He was waaay ahead of the game.
But unfortunately his execution has been underwhelming because he's probably finding it more difficult to implement than he though, which is to be expected. Fully decentralized and properly incentivized trustless oracles a daunting thought experiment - maybe bordering on impossible.
LINK will come through eventually, but it's unclear if it'll be before or after some other project gets there first, which would be tough luck for linkies like myself.

probably the single most qualified person to solve it
best part is, the world doesn't even know it needs this yet, so by buying LINK, you're getting into the next new paradigm (think BTC, ETH, ...) on the ground fucking floor
