I moved abroad to Japan to get away from the US. I'm half Japanese so language wasn't an issue. I taught English for a couple years as an assistant teacher and got my license to teach officially. Ended up not even using it much though because I got a job offer with a private school working in their immersive English program as a teacher/interpreter. Wasn't too bad and pay was good in the private sector compared to public. Also not much overtime outside of parent/teacher conference season.
Anyway did that for a few years and got lucky with Tesla and Bitcoin and ended up semi-retired. I still work part-time at the school teaching to keep my skills sharp and honestly just to stay busy cuz Japan is boring as fuck after living here for 10 years without something to do. Part-time pay covers most of my bills and my stock dividends cover the rest.
I suppose I should push myself a bit more to do something constructive but I just have been really lazy. I don't spend all my dividends so my stocks slowly compound (JEPI has treated me well these last years). And Bitcoin is just being Bitcoin, so that's cool. The yen is so weak that I have little incentive to really push myself much more. I enjoy waking up at 10:00 and drinking a coffee while reading the paper and slowly getting ready for work at my own pace.
