If the universe is infinite, gold is infinite. Similar with Monero - if time is infinite, monero is infinite. This is a far greater limitation on the supply of monero though. Gold supply is growing exponentially and we haven't even started asteroid mining yet. Monero supply only grows linearly. In the scheme of things it is nothing. Bitcoin's termination of block rewards is actually risky, not necessarily a good thing.
