what IS up with the brazilians here? rude, leering, etc. i was walking back from the gym one day with my wife, who was in workout gear. some brazilian goon was staring at her as we crossed the street while he was standing by a car with a couple others (they were dressed like drivers). he continued to stare and met my gaze as if he wanted a staredown. being from the us, i confronted him and asked what his problem was. at this point, most people will play dumb or just say 'nothing'. no, he doubles down and starts saying something about 'you don't think i speak english' etc or whatever. then acts like he may want to fight. i've done jiujitsu for a few years, won a national tournament, trained a bit of muay thai, etc., so i can hold my own, especially against untrained people. but i reaaaaly don't want to find some rando on the street in front of my wife (does he have a knife? will his friends jump in?). anyway, after that, i've learned to distrust many of them because they all seem to be low class. would love to hear from a local how these guys are perceived. (i already know i'm hated...white guy from usa who's made it).
also my wife is asian american, and there's some pretty veiled racism directed her way by locals, even here in the 'fancy parts' of lisboa.
