The idea is rooted in PUA culture if I'm not mistaken, and basically is a mental strategy for picking up women that reduces any individual woman's value in your mind because you whole heatedly believe the "plenty of fish in the sea" meme, which in and of itself is not a bad strategy, it just has limitations in both application and finite limited resources (such as the amount of women that exist in your available pool, and more applicably to money making: the span of your life and the bell curve of your ability to generate value throughout it).
