I’ve just seen in a post an outrageous claim that Sergey consumed 6 million calories. I am a firm believer that extraordinary claims (such as this) require extraordinary proof, and I got to thinking about it, and I am seeing some major problems in validating this.

I’m not denying that he has a history of eating a lot, but there is just no way he ever got to 6 million. Seriously- just think of the math involved and what that would entail. It’s just not possible.

For the sake of sheer possibility, let’s just say Sergey ate for 24 hours straight. That’s 1,440 minutes. Now you consider 6 million calories- Sergey would have to be consuming just under 4,167 calories PER MINUTE every single minute for the entire 24 hours..

To illustrate the sheer impossibility of such a feat, let’s imagine Sergey to be consuming calories at absolute maximum efficiency- meaning, highest caloric density. Lard, which we will use to maximize our Caloric Consumption Efficiency, has a caloric density of right around 900 calories per 100 grams (ie, pure fat, at 9 calories per gram).

With this, we can see that in order to reach the aforementioned 4,167 calories per minute, Sergey would be required to consume right around .463 kilograms (or 1.02 pounds) of lard EVERY SINGLE MINUTE FOR THE ENTIRE 24 HOURS IN A DAY.

If this is not evidence enough, already, of the impossibility of the claimed “6 million calories”, consider the physical volume entailed in this. Given that the Lard Mass per kilogram/lard is 1.15 liters, Sergey must have chugged .53245 liters (or, .1407 gallons) of lard per minute!

Like I said, I am not denying the fact that Sergey certainly consumed a lot of calories- and that should not be taken lightly nor forgotten; I am only trying to bring light to the fact that the figure of “6 million calories” is (by plain mathematic) patently absurd.
