LINK is intrinsically worthless. Node operators can be payed in existing cryptocurrencies. Just look at the testnet right now, it only accepts ETH instead of LINK lmao. It means that ETH can easily be substituted for it, that is, if someone wants to fork the token to accept ETH (an established cryptocurrency instead of some fucking ERC20 token made with a two-man team), LINK is basically useless. That is besides the fact that everything LINK aims to do can be easily done by cryptographically signing the data from the API source.
>muh next ETH

Link, 5 months in: 35 cents (3.5x ICO)
Ethereum, 5 months in: $5.50 (17x ICO)

Uh oh, pissed stinker incoming HAHA.

let's make a list

Sia: decentralized file storage

Monero: buying illegal/embarrassing shit, tax evasion, ..etc

Ripple: Faster and cheaper than Paypal. Distributed exchange. P2p lending. IOU/tokens.

Stellar: Fast and cheap. ICOs

Ethereum: smart contracts and ICOs

Ethereum Classic: immutable proof-of-work version of Ethereum + side chains coming soon
please don't list tokens unless they can be used now

it's more decentralized than bitcoin

Bitcoin
-One company has more than 50% of the hashpower
-One oppressive country has more than 50% of hashpower
-One company has a monopoly on creating efficient ASIC Bitcoin miners thanks to patents

Ripple
-10s of validators run by reputable non-related public and private entities in different countries (e.g., Microsoft, MIT, CGI, WorldLink, Telindus-Proximus Group, Bahnhof, ...)
-At least 80% of validators must agree for a ledger to be validated
