I have no sources but I'm betting half the problem is everyone is brainwashed to waste money on useless shit like apple iphones and watches. Back in the day the workforce was focused on building real shit like houses, utility services, etc. Now the top companies are "tech" companies that are just big advertising companies. The amount of money spent on useless shit is unreal
