I'm not bashing them, I just don't want to trade silver for some eggs or a few cans of deenz, when it's much more cost-effective for me to stack those now with fiat (which will only get devalued more rapidly in the coming years).

Even outside of the UK and their oppressive VAT, silver bars haven't been a great buy this year. Last fall I got this kilo for just over 23 euros/oz. The lowest price on coins I was getting was about 30 cents higher.
This year I wanted to buy more bars, because they take up less space than tubes. But I bought coins instead, because they costed less.

Dunno but I've noticed a similar pattern in euroland. Last year you could get these kilo coin-bars for less than the cheapest 1 oz coins. I got this one for 741.34 (23.06/oz) while the cheapest 1 oz coins I bought were noah's arks at 23.33 (and I had to buy a monster box of 500 coins to get that price).

That's only hard to move if it's one big mass. If you buy kilo bars, you could move it easily a piece at a time. And it would take up much less space than coins. 10k ozt is about 311 kilo bars, and I did some rough calculations to find out these bars can basically fit that much in about a cubic foot of space. Of course it's still 311 kilos, so the floor has to be strong enough to support that. But it doesn't have to be all in one place, so whatever.
I wouldn't buy that much, but getting more bars would be a nice way to save some space. Only problem is bars cost more now, compared to last year. I bought one of these last year for 741 euros, and now they want 80 euros more. So it doesn't make sense, because I can just buy wieners for less (25.21 vs. 25.85 per oz). Too bad because I have loads of coins already, and it would even out my stack to get more kilos.

The bar and packaging looks very similar to my Goddess Europa bar, but not sure what that purple thing is.

What do you think of these bars? I have one from last year, it has the queen on obverse side (Tokelau). Their 2023 bars & coins now instead have the Chad coat of arms. Kinda weird to have an african nation advocating for european culture, but I guess those are the days. O tempora! O mores!
Anyway I guess the bars are a better deal than the coins, by a little bit (not much though, just like 20 cents/oz, if I calculated right). But are bars a meme in europe? Does anyone buy these? I looked at the pages on numista.com, and looks like bars are only minted to 3000, but coins are 100k. But I already have quite a few silver coins, and just this one bar. Bars take up much less space, so that's a big plus, because I'm starting to run out of that.
Oh well, I just wanted ramble on. I also wish they tamped the spot price down more today. Not sure if I'll order this weekend or not, but the shop has their special that ends on Monday. Decisions, decisions...

I bought this one last year for 741 euros. It was a good price at the time. It's my only bar. I also have some 1-kilo and 5-kilo coins (mostly Noah's Ark, because others tend to cost more). The bar definitely takes up less space than the coins, but isn't as interesting to look at.
